A two-day
hands-on training workshop on identification of districts
communication needs and mechanism of dovetailing such needs
with the overall Project communication requirements was
organized from 4th – 5th August 2008
with technical support of ICIMOD. The workshop was
facilitated by Ms. Joyce Mendez,
Integrated
Knowledge Management Specialist, ICIMOD.
The workshop was attended by all Coordination Officers,
Block Coordinators and Clusters Supervisors from all five
Districts.
The sessions
were designed to reinforce the importance of a good
communication strategy wherein detailed session touched upon
concepts like what
is a communication strategy - designing one that’s fit for
your projects; determining communication objectives;
identifying target audiences
and appropriate channels and pathways for reaching them were
discussed.
As part of the
overall objective of the workshop, District Units were asked
to identify their most immediate communication needs that
cater specifically to project beneficiaries, channel for
communicating, budget and resources required and the
expected outcome of each defined communication activity. The
group tasks were later presented in a plenary where inputs
were provided.
The basics of case study writing, documenting and presenting
success stories, and learnings were addressed.
